Building upon conversations amongst UK-based historians of the United States about initiatives to promote inclusion in the field at all levels of activity, HOTCUS has developed a pack of two school assembly plans to mark Black History Month. These plans, designed by Dr. Megan Hunt (@_Megan_Hunt_), are intended to support school engagement with Black History Month whilst stimulating awareness amongst KS3 and KS4 students of the connections between Black British History and the American civil rights movement. We encourage members of the HOTCUS community to pass the link to the assembly plans onto any schools with which they have associations or to ask outreach officers in their own departments and institutions to do so. HOTCUS welcomes feedback on these plans and news about how they have been used.
