HOTCUS is collaborating with our colleagues at the British American Nineteenth Century Historians (BrANCH) to deliver a PGR/ECR event, to be hosted at the Rothermere American Institute in Oxford on 14 November 2025.
This one-day workshop will include a work-in-progress session in the morning for PGRs/ECRs to share their work in a welcoming and friendly environment. In the afternoon, there will be sessions on academic publishing and a ‘Viva Survivor’ session, giving PGRs the opportunity to ask ECRs questions about the viva process. The workshop will also provide a networking opportunity for PGRs and ECRs enabling the possibility of future scholarly collaboration. Please see the draft schedule below.

All attendees must be members of either BrANCH or HOTCUS before the workshop. Limited travel subsidies for UK-based PGRs/ECRs are available for those not in receipt of support from their home institutions. Spaces for this workshop are limited. To apply, please complete our application form by September 12, 2025.
