Since electing our first Early Career Secretary in June 2018, HOTCUS has been working with members to develop the Jobs Excellence Framework (JEF). It indicates criteria that constitute a ‘Gold’ standard employment opportunity, then a ‘Silver,’ then a ‘Bronze’. All jobs advertised through HOTCUS channels will now include a link to the framework, encouraging members to consider issues such as pay visibility, contract length, and support offered. It is hoped that it can provide guidance for candidates seeking work in the sector, and to provide a benchmark of best practice to senior colleagues in the field with influence over recruitment, pay and conditions.
The framework document can be found in the link below.
We fully welcome comments and or feedback on the JEF, and will seek to review it fully within its first year. We are also happy to work with any other scholarly organisations who wish to adopt it or something similar. Please direct any correspondence to Dr Megan Hunt, HOTCUS Events Secretary ([email protected]), or to either HOTCUS Chair Dr Uta Balbier ([email protected]) and Early Career Secretary Dr Ellie Armon Azoulay ([email protected])
