Please join us for a one day conference that brings together researchers at various career stages from around the UK to share their research and exchange ideas about the history of the United States in the twentieth century. Our programme features a broad range of papers exploring how the regulation of race, gender and sexual norms have intersected with movements for rights and justice from the early twentieth century to the present day.
The conference also includes a developmental roundtable on publishing that will offer practical advice that we hope will benefit our postgraduate and early career community, whether you are planning to submit your first journal article or book monograph proposal.
Professor Douglas Charles from Penn State University will close the day with a keynote address on ‘Researching Hoover’s War on Gays: Uncovering Hidden History.’
The 2019 HOTCUS annual conference will be held at the Rothermere American Institute, The University of Oxford on Friday, 18 October.
